Distributed Content System. - Movie order enhancements.

Adultbouncer would like to formally introduce its newest system: distributed content on all the servers.
If you are not in the habit of cutting up content and I know this is true for 98% of our webmasters, then you should use the new system we have setup. It actually copies content to your server and links it to your members area so you dont have to dowload, upload or fxp or anything.
Just link to them using the links provided. This is the easiest we could make the content system for you.
You will no longer be issued ftp logins for the content when content is approved and will no longer be able to ftp in to 216.32.208.199 or as it is commonly know "the content box".
Also, please refrain from copying the data to your own folder, just link to them. This will be counterproductive to our efforts.

Ok cool, but I am still lost :cry: How does it work? I am getting the error WinSock 2.0 Connecting to 216.32.208.199 Connection failed (Connection refused) when I try to log in to the content server. So I take it that this new way of getting content is up and running. Could some one please help :?: :(

Works like a dream for me. I can FTP, FXP everything.
Just don't try to acces if from the content-server. Login to your prv-area (in case you are aone of the lucky few who are able to do so) and you will find a folder that contains the movies.

i can login to my prv ftp site. and i can get inside the contentserver folder, but i can't get inside the movie folder. (503 permission denied)

I think this is one of the best ideas to come around in a while.

By keeping all the content on one source it will make updating websites faster for webmasters (with respect to not having to upload movies) and will permit AB to have better control bandwidth and storage as they will be able to focus on the servers hosting the content.

There's no "contentserver" folder in my prv.(ftp) area of my two sites. My content was just approved last week and I haven't downloaded it all yet. (fxp doesn't work with me) So the new movies I ordered I have only downloaded 2/6 . Also I am in the midst of starting up a new site and have ordered and got approval already but have not downloaded as of yet. (approval, a few days ago) where would I find the content for a site still in test stage?

Well I just ordered 3 new movies on the 31st and I got the same info as b4! The user and pass for the movie and it says they are on 199! Well I can't access them that way and I can't find any new folder in my prv.members area on ftp if I click to go up one I get an access denied 553! I guess im not doin something right or something! Im sure there may be bugs in the system as it is still new and I guess I picked the wrong time to order!
If anyone out there has got it figured out please pm me or e-mail me with the info! I would greatly appreciate it!

Well I just ordered 3 new movies on the 27st and I got the ftp/user info but I can't connect anymore on the ftp since today. They are on 199!

Well I can't access them in any way and I can't find any new folder (contentserver) in my prv.members area on ftp (i guess my priv area is full)

Could someone please look to it ! To increase my webspace and upload that movies ...

Howdy :)

this is how the content system works.

You select movies from our system then once they are approved you are sent an email with linking instructions. The files are added to your account automatically so no more needing of FXPing or Download or uploading. the files will be in your account but will be invisible.

You will get emailed the list of files.

I hope this clears everything up.

1) we are providing both ftp download and http link method during this period. the ftp server is at 216.32.208.199

2) the http link is create on your own member area server, which is http://{yourmemberarea.adultbouncer.com}/contentserver/......, it's not on 216.32.208.199!

you donot need to ftp download/upload movie . what you need to do is on your homepage, you create a link as <a href=/contentserver/....> movie</a>

3) some http server restrict you to browse a directory without filename ( and index.html), we will release this, so that you can know what's the name of the file you need to link to.

4) the directory is created the first time you order a movie, so if you never order a movie after the change, there will not be the directory.

you can get the filename when you browse the directory, and add a link to your homepage accordingly. you donot need to ftp login the server to get the filename.

if you want to download the file, you can also use you http browser to save the file to your PC.

O.K I understand how this new system is suppose to work!BUT when i try to login to my ftp for the movies that i ordered on the 31st I get a no access! My password does not work on 199!
So I tried the http process for the site that I ordered the movies from i;e

I get a login box and when i use my ab login i get a 404! So am i suppose to use the login and pass for my prv.members area is that the problem? Maybe I ordered the movies a little to early and the directory was not made for the movies! But Larry says that even so I should be able to login to my ftp on 199 and get the movies, but that is not working either!............................What Am I doing wrong?

Most likely you do nothing wrong. The FTP server ain't running and it seems a lot of orders was not set up correctly. You should submit a ticket about this error.

seems 199 is working fine from myside.

with that said....I've had no problems with AB Devil...he is the only person doing webmaster support at this time....And from what I notice he is doing a good job dealing with everyone....

The files you got in the contentserver directory is 'soft links'. It's like Windows shortcuts, but it differs if you try to copy it. In windows you'd make another shortcut, but here you make a copy of the target, ie. the movie.

You should not do this copying since, as you say, take up space and the whole idea with the content server is lost.

It would be great though if we could decide for ourselves where these soft links should be placed. I've also seen a lot of sites changing the names of the original files. This I a good way to hide from which movie a clip is from, making it harder to locate similar content -> making member stay longer (and webmasters stealing ideas less from each other). This is also no problem to fix with soft links, but it'll be some administration if we're not allowed to do so ourselves.

I agree with korny and playteen - being able to custom name the files and directories is a good idea... i've been using mouseovers to hide the directories so people wouldn't know all the movies are coming from the same spot.

Also, when I think about it, I don't like to put up all scenes from a movie at the same time. But if I have links:

Yeah, don't know how well it does for retentions, but when the drives aren't full, on one of my sites, I do daily updates where I add a new scene a day rather than putting up a whole movie at once. When the more educated surfers figures out to change the url for the next scene, the novelty of looking towards a new scene coming tomorrow wears out.

I think the 2 movies instead of 3 deal is probably specific to that account for whatever reason.. I have a site that also resets to 2, while another one resets to 3 each month.. I don't think the past selections affect anything

does it still provide the pics? I would be more enticed to use the system for the movie content but I surely need the PIC file to show previews of each movie and/or scene. Also I want to set up picture galleries from these PIC files for my members area.

Currently my members area is set up to download full movies by downloading 3-6 zip files. The single scenes area is set up to download individual scenes by seperate parts or as 1 zip file. My picture section isn't finished yet.

I am very curious what AB thinks of this type of set-up. Thanks.....

Adultbouncer would prefer that you limit file sizes to 80 megs per piece for anything you upload. Large files put a strain on your server and impact download performance.

I am pretty sure that posting vids in compressed format (zip, rar, ace, etc.) is frowned upon. Besides you will not be able to make a vid file smaller this way anyways; they are already compressed.

the download folders still exist for ordered content - you only need to download the pics file if you need those for thumbs.

Iam having the very same problem on one of my sites that was moved recently! Its on 216.32.208.220 and i can see the contentserver box and i can even get in to see the names of the movies but when i clicl on the movie file to open it i get access denied! I just figured it was because i did not have the space but the contentserver does not mess up your space in your site sooo I guess its a lil problem that i need to address!
I have not updated this site in over 6weeks and i only have a few members left so if i could update maybe i could pull a few out of the woodwork! But with all the other things goin on I just am saying I have the very same problem!

OK, when a server is full --> nothing is copied into content directory --> even those 'soft' links --> access denied.

This server is *full* since I posted previous message. No files transferred, no content copied, no links in shared directory --> access denied.
