ftp information

I'm new to the game. I don't have to upload stuff now cause i work hard giving a good and oiginal things in the same time as my job, but i wanted to know how to receive ftp information cause i not had it yet.
For information, i don't have add site description yet because i wait finishing my site. Must i add it for having the test ftp information or simply waiting ?
