these have been mentioned before, and maybe AB is already doing these but in case you are not :o
1. better site listing. i'm not saying just copy the DP layout but a few "featured" sites in major categories can do wonders in helping members discover the best/biggest sites. that helps everyone's retention. a day's work and all webmasters and AB itself can retain more money, i don't see why not
2. cascading payment amounts. maybe the first month is $25 and 2nd month and beyond $20 per month. something like that to encourage staying a member. i know it's possible
any thoughts?

i agree. some new site listing system would be nice.
the problem is there is so much garbage on the AB network, when you don't list someone then there will be crying and screaming of unfair. Sometimes it's not just about how much content but the first impression a site gives, the professionalism, the cleanliness. But 95% of sites are up just for being up, webmasters are more worried about ordering content than fixing their existing sites.
when you showcase sites on a new ab site listing then how do you make everyone happy? i cant complain i do my own quality assurance and i'm never happy with my own sites.
-a good start would be thumbs for the sites, having our name displayed with a thumb.
- may be a 'newly updated' section - although i can see this being abused. however possibly implementing a 2 times a month submission limitation.
- maybe gold AB, sites that are above and beyond other webmasters - be it design or experience
again how do you control this top listing? who knows may be bring in the swiss. lol. in either way it would be nice to reward the top sites, since a-hole webmasters are taking advantage of other webmasters work in the members area to keep their retention up. why not AB reward these sites on the front end.
thank you

1) Yup we still have this in the books but there is stuff thats more important right now such as getting better content exclusive and reworking the AB-Host system to be fast/streamlined.
2) Not unless we increase our price we cant we would go below our break point.

G'day Guys,
There's some good points there. In the same vein as Boobie, how about if access to Vixeo continued for Free if a Customer retained their Membership? Might already happen, but an explanation of this, if it is already happening, might be worthwhile. You could also include it on the Sign-Up Page - If you retain your Membership, you also retain access to Vixeo.com, at no charge. (this option is only available to those who select Vixeo with their initial Membership).
I like the idea of using thumbs in the Site Listings area. To gain a thumbs listing, your Site should have to meet a minimum standard criteria.
im up for making members stay but what if the other sites start losing there customers to the better sites like say a customers say what the hell im i on this site ill stop payment on this site and go to the better site. this is just a thought you never know it might happen.

I don't see why they would do that :? ...their membership gives them access to the 900+ sites on the network anyway, why cancel with you and signup with another site, when they already have access to the better site through your site...
I just want the signup...if they stay because someone elses site offers more than mine or looks better, so be it...the longer they stay, the longer i get paid for getting them to signup...the "better sites" are great for retention...i get hits from other prv areas to my prv area and i love it.
And i have an awful lot of bookmark hits too, so i know my site is good enough for a bookmark.

lol you never know there are people like that. :D

rob i know it's on your mind and that's good enough for me. a site listing upgrade is not really a time consuming or high maintenance task, and it will have pretty immediate payoffs. i see more and more webmasters starting their own list of good sites, so obviously there's a need. to do this right, it only takes one guy a few days to go over the sites, take thumb preview of the good sites, and put up some good ones in major categories IMO. the cascading prices can be considered when AB raises its price
d-xxx yeah there's always the "who should get featured" issue. but my thinking is, since everybody benefits by having their members less frustrated, anything is better than nothing. i'd love nothing more than a dozen high quality sites on the ab listing to keep my members busy and happy.
xpc i wouldn't really worry about people jumping ship, because there's absolutely no point. the member gets the same thing anyway so why would he go through the hassle to sign up at another site? you only benefit by having your members staying longer.

Ya then we will get to the issue of webmasters complaining saying hey im better i update blah blah blah
Then we'd get into a war and pissed off webmasters. We've never done it before so there must be some sort of equation used to select the sites.
If you know it let me know.

i know what you mean. it just doesn't make a lot of sense for AB to sacrifice money to protect some webmaster egos. and seriously if someone updates more often than others then his site will eventually become bigger faster, and he'll have a better chance of getting featured anyway. i'd rather my member go to a site with 50 movies and doesn't update, than to go to a site with 3 movies and updating every week.
a few possible criterion can be used in combination:
size of site (bigger sites keep members busy longer)
good or at least presentable design (helps member feel they are getting a high quality service)
best conversion ratio (it just helps the whole AB network to have good converting sites featured, obviously this is not as important as the first two factors)
the only subjective thing is the design. and even then it's quite easy to see whether a site looks decent

Yup.
Site design will be a major one. We've seen some damn ugly sites :)))

Right now in my members area, I give my visitors a listing of the hottest sites I have run across.. and when they run through that list, I have a link to the AB directory listing so they can go searching for themselves.
Until there is a thumb preview of premium sites, I suggest everyone do this to help keep their clients busy.
Yo BoobButler, I like the look of your AB site, I never ran across it previously, I will add it to my listing.

that's what i did a while ago too. it was almost a necessity.
and the fact that you didn't even find my site with your searching speaks volumes about how hard it is for members. my site is quite big with hundreds of members
