I use movie splitter to cut my clips down into 20 second vids for mgp's, problem is that's still usually around 3 megs in file size each. With the digitial protection on them now you can't re-encode them but at 3 megs per clip that's too big for most mgp's isn't it?

My question is how can we make smaller in file size clips out of the later movies from AB while still having them be 20 seconds?

i do believe most mgp's want bigger files so i dont think thats a problem.

but is it a good idea to use drm clips for mgp's since they can only be played once you have an AB password? will anyone be able to play them? if not is it possible to convert them to some other form?

Sorry but most of the mgp's want files NO larger than 2mb thats is pretty much the goin thing. If you go over it then you are not listed and in some situations blacklisted. So you want about no more than 5 clips i think and 3 is about correct at 20 to 30secs each. I have had galleries posted with 15sec clips but they were all part of a series so it got posted.

i use the movie splitter and cut them to 25-30 seconds. dont protect the movie - once you do this, webmasters will ban your ass. so leave it unprotected the clip will be about 3.5-4mb , then reencode it again. i usually drop it down to 320x240, and it comes out being 2-2.2mb. 25-30seconds, i put 3 of those and get listed everywhere. nowadays you have to give a bit more - you're forgetting the attention span of a man gets smaller and smaller day by day. And in general we expect more professional sites with greater content. and if you can sell to the hard buy the easy buys will flow ... like a mountain stream

so how is making clips 2 megs or smaller possible from the AB content? since the drm doesn't let us re-encode them and 20 seconds at the size they are now always comes to around 3 megs in size.

Also even if we could cram 20 seconds into 2 megs if they are drm nobody can see them and so shouldn't use those on mpg's right?

What does eveyrone else use, if we have new movies on our AB sites that use drm how can we make samples to show what we have if we can't use those clips?

You CAN make unprotected (no DRM protection) clips with the moviesplitter. You must specify which format you want to use from the drop-down list located in the lower half of the screen.

The DRM clips the moviesplitter does create, are viewable without a password, but only for a set number of plays (currently 3). I do not recommend trying to submit these to any TGPs/MGPs, though. :)

thanks for the info, i didn't see that. ok but like you say not worth using them for mpg's if they only allow 3 plays. then i need to encode to mpeg, and i saw people saying use tmpgenc ,but i have that, (pro 2.5) and see no way to inport wmv's to edit them, is there a plugin needed or something?

Thanks, i finally figured it out on my own anyway, after saving as unprotected wmv in movie splitter i was able to import into tmpgenc, it wasn't working before because i didn't check the "unprotected" box. now i made 3 30 seconds 2.5 meg mpegs, hope the mpg's will accept them.
