Dear Webmaster:
I believe your members might think they are getting spammed then.
It probably would work if they could choose whether or not to be emailed.
However I doubt we'll be implementing any such feature soon.

What you can do is create a mailing list and if they want they join it...

I'm sure there is a "join my newsletter" script out there...try a google search...i would think there's an HTML or Javascript version somewhere.

Once again, your answer is...

:!: What part don't you understand?
AB is NOT going to add this feature no matter how you ask or put it...if you want a newsletter sign-up box or option, then you're going to have to add it to your members area yourself. They can signup for it after they join your site! SHEESH!
Possible in registration?
Not all of us want to send newsletters out...SO, if you add it to registration, then we all will have that option open on the AB signup page...and what if they want a newsletter and we don't "do" newsletters...then what? Why should we have to start a newsletter because "korny" wants to? I don't know whatcha thought...but think again.

let me end this:
1.start a yahoo club/group about your site
2.slap a link on your preview page to it
3.have people join to find out whats going on in the members section
4.use the group email option to email everyone that has freely joined the yahoo club and elected to receive emails.
done and done

Thanks haj...sorry darnpj...just fed up with him acting like his site is the only one on the network and the only one with probs when a server (that he's on) has a problem.

"Add a newsletter option to registration, because HE wants to add a newsletter to his site, BAH!"

I think it's a Good Idea, much like the other links available to AB Webmasters, why couldn't a Link be added to an e-mail Program?
AB have added lots of additional resources, which not all Webmasters use, care to use, or can use.
The more resources we have available to us, the better the entire program, which Strengthens AB, and Strengthens us too.
I'd be encouraging Korny and the other Guys to keep their ideas coming, you never know what may come of it. I think too, everyone should be considerate of everyone's situation. Some don't Speak English as their first language, and because of this some points are lost in the translation. Good on them though, for having a go. I can only speak one language, fluently, and I reckon Multi Linguistic people are clever.

His idea probably would've had more impact had he took a poll to see how many other websters wanted the newsletter option, first.
Basically he can add a link for people to email him to get the newsletter.
If they can email him about problems, they can email him for the newsletter.
Just have them put "newsletter" in the subject line. Simple as that.
By all means...keep the ideas flowing.

Hey Ppl,
This thread is not really going to help too much for some reasons that may not apply to some of you! #1 the usa has just passed a federal anti-spamming law that is just too much for us when we already have the right wing after us!
It would and could only be like Neo said and that would be a double opted out. because we are just under the gun here legally ppl. We have to or should i say MUST maintain as clean a look as we can because believe me there are forces at work that if they had it their way we would ALL be out of biz!!!
To Korny he has an idea and he has the rite to express himself, even if its not something some ppl wana talk about. So lets try to understand the BIG picture and talk maybe about something like a way for our members to be able to join the clips in DRM. And Stop complaining about it to my poor e-mail acct!LOL Alot of them dont like the not being able to join the movies. Anyway theres my 2% and my sales are picking up again so things could be worse. 8) Luck To Us All

I think the key issue here was that Korny was saying He didn't know how to do it and was looking for some Feedback, or Help.
As an aside, I'm not so sure we should all be Running Scared of any Legislative issues though, what we should all be doing is ensuring we stay Legal. It's not illegal to e-mail Members, nor is the USA's stand on e-mail (Spam) definitive, particularly as it’s a Global issue.
There are several Opt In e-mail programs out there which allow you to do as Korny wants, whilst staying legit. Don't discount the idea, out of hand, without understanding what Webmasters are trying to achieve, and what the Compliance issues are.
Let’s not forget, the Adult Industry is one of the Biggest, if not the Biggest, Industries on the Internet. It is quite Legal, there’s a lot of money to be made by those who participate, and the Secret of continued success is complying with the relevant legislation, Worldwide.
AB have been smart, they take steps in an effort to ensure Webmasters promoting the program comply with the relevant Laws and Community Standards. We’re lucky too, as there are Webmasters, such as Neo, who contribute to this Forum, who know their stuff and are willing to impart their knowledge, from which all of us benefit.
Let’s not generalise, let’s keep to specifics, with a view to continued improvement, and continued success.
