High ratios, less signups in February

My January sales were mostly o.k, but then suddenly in February ratios went up and sales went down. Is that just me? Is anybody other experiencing the same?

Well if this border line Recession continues in the U.S, expect to see a further decline in sales.

I still blame on sites like rapid$hare, sites like rapidshare leech potential money off of us. Rapidshare is the most popular payhost with loyal piraters earning premium points by uploading at RS, the most unfriendliest to free users and they charge money for those who cant get bothered waiting between downloads. Rapidshare charges about $10 US a month ( converted from euro ) - which is roughly a third of a typical paysite - so I guess potential customers would choose the cheaper option.

There are people, not naming names, on a popular porn file sharing forum that always steals movies from adultbouncer and post it on rapidshare on a daily basis, so that could be another factor

Im sure rapidshare is a small problem of the picture but the recession is whats killing it.

if rapidshare was at all vault then rapidshare would be the largest site on the net.

The top ten sites are yahoo, youtube, google, windows live, microsoft network, myspace, facebook, hi5, wikipedia and orkut..... Most of these sites alone are worth more than a billion ( I think ).. Rapidshare even outrank ebay.com

Rapidshare.com has been online less than 2 years and studying from the Rapidshare graph, it is still growing and I will be extremely shocked if it beats out yahoo.com for the number 1 position.

I am so pissed off that sites like RS makes this much off of us, by having piraters stealing contents from the poor ( us ) and making the rich ( rapidshare ) even richer.

I dont think RS would ever shut down, since from a legal point of view, as rapidshare are the operaters they are not liable to be sued for any illegal content uploaded on their site by the user.

yabbit thats statement is incorrect.

they can be sued. they are running a blind eye from all the illegal stuff that is uploaded. If they are registered under DMCA, all a judge has to do is look at their DMCA complaint list and say holy shit you get about 1000 a day. Your bankrupt.

I beleive rapidshare was blocked off some a portion of the world or something like that. id like to see how many lawsuits they are presently in. These guys can only run for so long before real serious stuff begins to happen like lawsuis from microsoft etc.

I didnt know they were ranked 11 so that does cause a dent as well.

O.k, my sales have improved in March, at least ratios are better. However, I didn't work enough in March and my total signups are not so good because I was lazy lately :D

Usually in such threads I get impression that 50% of people are doing bad and 50% of people doing good. But this time it was different. I've seen 3-4 threads on different boards about shitty sales in February and only rarely somebody would say he was doing good. First half of March was good, let's hope it will stay so.
