Ok, the point here is to know if people would join in this or am I the only one.

I've seen on a thread that it weren't always as it is on AB, don't get me wrong, all the help from the webmasters is very useful and I am grateful for that but wouldn't it be nice to "network" ?
Yes we work individually on our own site and all and it's ok but wouldn't you want to get to know other webmasters on AB a bit more ? I may be the only one to think this but I would like to have a way to chat with other AB webmasters, and beside that, we could help new ones starting fresh. And on top of that, they could help us too with skills we might lack.

Anyway, it's what I think so now I wait to see what you webmasters/webmistresses think about it.

Well granted I haven't been around AB for the last 3/4 years, but I was here right at the very beginning'ish, around the middle of 2000 if I remember correctly.

I remember when it was around 10/20 webmasters running the whole lot and there was a thriving AB community. Everyone helped everyone else out, of course, that was the days before you had to have licensed content and we just plundered the newsgroups, he he!

Around the end of 2001, start of 2002, everyone had to have licensed content or risk getting shut down, we saw a lot of people jumping ship to other sites that didn't demand licensing and I think that's when the community fell apart a little. Clement who runs deluxepass used to have a thriving site on AB, then went his own way and setup DP, I seem to remember things firmly splitting into 2 camps around then, there was a lot of bad feeling around.

The other thing that kept a lot of us back together back then was the sheer amount of signups we were making, due to always having the very lastest movies on our sites. We were making money easily and it meant we were all chilled out and happy to chat online all day long. I personally hit just over the 1000 member mark at one point, then I got lazy, the money was flowing in and I thought it would last forever. I worked less day by day just at the point we should have been working harder because of the influx of new webmasters getting into the scene. My updates slowly dropped to nothing, then a bunch of personal problems meant I stopped doing any web work at the start of 2004. The last 3 years have seen me working a minimum wage job, a personal bankruptcy, moving house about 3 times and getting my heart broken more than once, but fuck it, i'm on the up and up now, my personal life is solid and going well, career wise I still don't know what i'm doing but i've been drawn back here.

AB is where I started, it's not just the site itself but Rob, he always gave us a lot of personal support, would answer pages in the early hours of the morning when a server went down, would personally reply to what I can only assume was hundreds of emails a day. I have a tie to this place and this is where I want to start all over again.

I have no allusions that it'll be easy to get going again, I know it'll be a struggle as there is simply a hell of a lot of competition out there now, i'm aiming for 10 new signups a month and build on that, no point expecting to make a fortune overnight, those days are gone, done and dusted, work hard and you'll make money, same as anything else in life.

Oh yeah, if anyone is wondering who i used to be, my old nick was ~phunk~, a few of you may remember me, i've changed the nick because, well...i've grown up a lot, definately not the person I was back then, more mature and much, much more focused...so Rob matey, i'm back, did ya miss me! :)

We are all here to give each other a hand. One brain can't make it through but all of us combine can make a defference. I am new in the game but not fully. I am been out for seven years due to my schooling now that i am done and focused on what i do as a developer i can definitely help just on my feild. But marketing know-how i have none. Let helps together and be a solid team of webmaster of AB.

I'm happy to help anyone out to the best of my ability, sadly that ability is lacking sometimes, he he!

Seriously though, i'll always do my utmost to help others out, because I had a lot of help at the beginning as well and frankly, i'm a strong believer in karma that anything good or bad you put out there comes back threefold!
