View Full Version : Serious problem.

I know this one comes over and over again but, it IS a serious problem.

My site targets 3 niches pretty easy to find content for: mature, chubby, prego.

I toke 3 niches so when one has no more movies for a while, i can work on the others.

The problem is easy, since four months there was no movies added for any of those niches.
I currently cant update my site because there is nothing to update with.

I DID send mails to marco from the content section (i think it was marco if i remmeber well). And i DIDNT receive any reply on any of my mails. I DID post threads about that in the past allready and i received the same answere over and over again: email marco....

Now this cant continue like that. I did my best, i was ready to buy the dvds AB own the licenses of but I have no clue of what those titles are (even if i asked a couple of times allready without any reply).

So what the hell do i do? Do i abandon my site??!

For those of you with the mighty "buy your own content"...
- i need my own hosting because abhost is too slow
- i need to make my own promotion cause only the sites listed as new get traffic
- i need my own content cause ab doesnt deliver any

do you see any reason for beeing on ab then?

yes, i am pretty pissed and im mad about it because ab made me win a lot of eassy money allready. But its becoming VERY frustrating

I think alot of people are in the same situation. Some new movies are very good for specific sites, but there is not enough available to cover all niches.
Mailing marco or content is indeed pointless. Never got a reply either, so what's the point of that address?

About the abhost. We are lucky that bandwidth is getting so cheap these days, or it would be pointless to promote our archives. Abhost is totally unstable. One day it's MAX 5 kb/s with acceleration and the day after it's +200kb/s.

With all the competition from other AEN's a kickass gallery host on AB is absolutely necessary since most webbies rely only on mgp traffic.

Update:

I forgot another nice point, we cant submit to thumb tgp/mgp's anymore because abhost blocks any thumbailing script, how cool...

No...YOU can't submit because of that.

I don't have a problem...as long as i link to my thumbs: http://www.heatgals.com/pic1.jpg ...works for me...you should be using your abhost url for your thumbs...i had that problem BEFORE changing the way i linked 'em. Even the sites that use Comus Thumbs finds my thumbs now! :D

Those niches already lack the large scale content availability as general porn so you should expect less available to AB webmasters. The general porn is in much more demand so Marco encodes more of those films. He tried to do what he can, but he is only one man.

If you like, try another network like JANS, Deluxepass, or Adults Allowed and see if they offer more content in the niches you are targetting. No one said you couldn't open another site.

When Adultbouncer first opened, they did not provide any content or any gallery hosting. Even gallery hosting is a relatively new feature. We had to scrape by on our own.

I know you're pissed, but try not to take too many things for granted. Yes, you have to pay for your own hosting and possibly pay for your own content, but that's the nature of running a business. Don't be misguided into thinking you will be making money with little to no startup capital. This isn't the way business is done. You need to invest in your site. When my partner and I first started,we held regular day jobs to pay for the hosting and the content. We ran in the red for a while, but we knew it would pay off.

Unfortunately, I have to be one of those to say, "buy your own content". When AB went DRM-only a while back, I borrowed money, ate a single $3 box of Chinese food a day just to pay for movies.

it is a serious sacrifice you did, i'm not ready to make it. I'm a hi school student and do this to earn some money to buy my stuff (in an informatic school, its expensive to keep up to date....).

My post is meant to show that I dont ask much, i ask couple of minutes of someone so I can continue working. If i know the licenses owned for those niches, i can go out there, buy the dvds, ripp them, upload them and continue a decent promotion. Here, because of the lack off content, im stuck. Thats why im so pissed.

In my opinion, what MovieGuy was saying (in an indirect way) is that you may have painted yourself into a corner. By making your site a niche site, you are reliant upon the niche content supplied by your content supplier (AB).

If that content supplier does not supply you with what you need but you want to stick with that supplier, change your needs. Move away from the niche stuff and start incorporating more mainstream conent. It is a way to continue updating your site no matter what content is available. You will have a lot fewer headaches.

My opinion

just because you run a "niche" site doesnt mean you can't utilize AB's other content. If you have 20 movies credits and there are only 3 movies on the movie server you can use does that mean youre gonna let those 17 other credits go to waste? They reset every month so use them up. Create additional "bonus" sections of your site. Take mine for example, its focused on asians. But i've found uses for all the other leftover movies and clips i couldnt use for my site. I added a blowjob section and a section for black chicks, which will soon be updated when i feel like it.

So what im saying is promote your specific niche but don't limit the scope of your site. Whos to say ppl who like pregos also dont like fat black chicks as well?

I know i wont be popular for saying this but I notice AB movie store has some very nice movies on, pretty much all recent productions and loads for the niche I promote but 95% of them are not available to me for my site. Perhaps looking after the webmasters should come first before lining your own pockets!

I'm buying content at the moment cos thats the only way for me to try and progress but, to be honest, the whole point of setting up sites on AB, DP and the others is that you have licensed content to use and promote with which costs you nothing but time and effort. If you dont have good regular content available and have to frequently buy why not set up a paysite of your own especially as bandwidth is so cheap at the moment?

Sorry to sound so negative but its getting to the stage when I'm beginning to wonder if its worth all the hassel

AB has the licensing rights for the use of some movies on their network but the movies in the AB Store are a completely different matter. I believe the store is run by a different company that specializes in online DVD sales. That company simply has an association with AB so that they (the store) can get more DVD sales through the work of AB webmasters. That's how I see it anyway.

Yeah, thats definately how its gonna work, only problem will be when the videos on the store are more desirable than the ones on peoples sites. Do people go for quantity or quality?

How is it a problem? If you put an AB store on your site and they buy the DVD's from your store, you get a cut. The customer may buy a couple DVDs and you get the same as they would have given with a signup. The only difference is when month number 2 comes along and they don't buy more DVDs. That recurring signup would have been favorable.

in my country its something very comon
school is at 1KM from where i , and my parents, live, why should i move? And thats the case for many people

one thing i totaly agree, we arent much of that age in the buissness, and i had allready some serious fights about it with other webmasters on the chat for example.

but, i dont give a shit, i can understand that some people might be jalouse if when they were 18 they had to work VERY hard to get a shitty loan...

why do i say that? because some asshole told me once "go back working for mc donalds"... it made everything clear for me

anyway, i know a lot of you guys aint bad guys and , like you might have guessed with the niche i use, i dont have anything against "older" people
